Q1. How easy is TMC to use?

Answer:

Very. We've designed the service to be extremely user-friendly. You'll find help tools that guide you through everything, including pop-ups and detailed instructions. If you'd like any further help, simply contact our help desk.

TMC also gives you feedback to help you fine tune how you use it. When you sign up we'll ask a few simple questions to make sure your account's exactly right for you. If things change in the future, you can make changes to your account directly from the site.

Q2. What happens if I forget or lose my password?

Answer:

We ask that you make sure to keep your password safe and secure. If you do ever forget it, lose it or feel that it's been compromised, ask us to email you a new password. Simply click on the 'forgot password' button on the login page www.tmcsms.co.uk. Only you will ever know your password as it's fully encrypted, so if you forget it we won't be able to recover it.

Q3. How do I access the service?

Answer:

You can access the TMC service anywhere in the world via the internet at www.tmcsms.co.uk.Each user has a unique username and encrypted password, which they are responsible for keeping safe and secure. Alternatively you can arrange for the service "to work alongside your existing operating environment (see question 17). If so, you can access the service onsite or remotely depending on how you want to use it.

Q4. How secure is TMC?

Answer:

We use several security measures to make the service as secure as possible. When you first SMS SIGN UP we'll send you a password that's fully encrypted. We can never view any messages sent on the system. Only authorised personnel can enter our Data Centres, thanks to 24/7 monitoring, permanently recording video cameras and safety locks. We also operate under The Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations of 2003 and are registered under the Public Register of Data Controllers.

Q5. How quickly are messages delivered?

Answer:

We endeavour to deliver messages within a few seconds of being sent, no matter what the location. That's because we use multiple tier 1 message carriers who automatically select the most efficient delivery route.

Q6. What types of organisations are using TMC?

Answer:

Organisations across all industry sectors have signed up to TMC. From large scale multinationals to small high street operations, they're all enjoying the benefits of using text messaging in their communications package. The system is simple and flexible enough to bring benefits to many different businesses no matter what their size or location.

Q7. How do I pay?

Answer:

You can choose one of two ways to pay for the TMC service - via a credit card or by Direct Debit subject to credit terms and conditions.

Q8. How do I see my messages?

Answer:

You view your messages in much the same way as you do in a traditional email package, using the Sent and Received boxes. Simply log on to the system anywhere in the world and you can see all the messages you've sent out, and any replies you have received. Depending on your individual set up, you can store messages for as long as you need.

Q9. What is a virtual number and why do I need it?

Answer:

A virtual number is an extra feature that lets you receive messages directly into your TMC inbox rather than on your mobile phone. We issue virtual numbers to users on request.

Q10. How many texts can I send at any one time?

Answer:

There are no restrictions on the number of messages you can send at one time or the destinations you're sending them to. However, users can be restricted as to the amount of messages they can send per month, for example. The controller sets up these restrictions when they first add a user to the system.

Q11. Can you offer bespoke solutions?

Answer:

Q12. How much information can I send in a text?

Answer:

A standard text message can be up to 160 characters long.

Q13. How can I confirm that a message has been sent?

Answer:

The messages you send are stored on the system and you can view them whenever you want. You can also see the status of each message: Sent, Delivered or Failed.

Q14. How do I Sign Up?

Answer:

Signing up to TMC will take you just a couple of minutes - simply visit www.tmcsms.com. You'll need to have some information with you when you SMS SIGN UP: company information, an email address that we can send a password to and credit card details. Remember, there's no license fee, no set up cost, no contract period - you only pay for what you use!

Q15. What is Unicode?

Answer:

Unicode gives you the ability to send messages in non supported GSM Character sets. For a full list of supported Unicode languages click here. Please be aware that the maximum number of characters that can be sent using Unicode is 70.

Q16. What is Short Text?

Answer:

Short Text converts your message into 'SMS language.' For example, 'before' becomes 'B4' and 'because' becomes 'cuz.' It's fun to use and it increases the amount of information you can get into a standard 160 character message. Short Text works exactly like a standard spell check dictionary. You can add your own personalised SMS words to the database too.

Q17. How do I Sign UP other users within my organisation?

Answer:

You can Sign Up a new user in just a few minutes. They must have an email address where we can send their password and start-up information. As soon as they get this information they can start sending messages. You can add users individually or in groups.

Q18. How much does the service cost?

Answer:

The standard online platform is free. You only pay for the messages you send. There's no contract term either - use it as little or as often as you like.

Q20. Can I use TMC with my existing operating system?

Answer:

Yes. We have developed two different versions of the software in different formats: PHP and My SQL in a Linux environment; Dot Net using Microsoft SQL in a Windows environment. Both offer different advantages to the business model. The software uses the latest technology, enabling you to distribute the service to your staff knowing they will be able to manage and control messages through cutting-edge reporting, management and database tools.
